Hard to capture the beauty of our Lake of the Woods shorelines, but here is an attempt from a few days ago. The bearberry growing around the juniper ranged in colour from golden yellow to a dark red. Mostly jack pine trees further up.
The lake has opened up completely around the Sioux Narrows area! Looking forward to getting back in the boat. Here are a few photos from over the last weekend when the ice was going out.
Here is a collage of photos from April 21st, 2018. Turn out this will be my last day out on the ice as the ice has really started to go and is no longer safe for travel.
The open water under the bridge was just like a mirror creating a perfect reflection. Even caught a bit of the sundog in the water just to the left of the square channel marker.
Nice to see the rocks, moss, and lichen start to show as the snow melts down along the shorelines. These photos are from March 27, 2018.
The days are getting longer and we are slowly moving our way towards spring. Still plenty of ice on the lake, making for some great spring ice fishing conditions!
Deep snow makes for fun snowshoeing this winter. Amazing what you will find at the top of some islands, and the view is always worth it!
Been a great start to the ice fishing season, despite some really cold temperatures so far this winter. The Crystal Harbour Ice Fishing Tournament is coming up on Saturday, January 27th.
