I put together a quick video showing one of the last places to freeze up on Lake of the Woods. This is Whitefish Bay, the deepest part of the lake (over 200ft.) just west of Sioux Narrows. It was -20C at the time and completely froze over last night, December 9th. There are some additional photos below the video.
June 19, 2019 – Blue Heron on Lake of the Woods
I was out on the lake this morning to take some property photos and was fortunate enough to spot this Blue Heron perched way up in a tall tree! Just another example of some of the wild beauty of Lake of the Woods.
May 16, 2019 – Happy Victoria Day Long Weekend
The first long weekend of the summer is here! The ice went off the lake late again this year, out for our first boat ride, we had to work our way around some patches of ice last Sunday, May 12th. June 1, 2018 – Whitefish Bay
Hard to capture the beauty of our Lake of the Woods shorelines, but here is an attempt from a few days ago. The bearberry growing around the juniper ranged in colour from golden yellow to a dark red. Mostly jack pine trees further up.
May 10, 2018 – Open water!
The lake has opened up completely around the Sioux Narrows area! Looking forward to getting back in the boat. Here are a few photos from over the last weekend when the ice was going out.
